Trials and Tribulations—with photos

No matter how idyllic life might seem here in the tropics, we still have our moments.  This morning Simon was playing with a small wooden filing box (and how many times has Mommy asked him NOT to play with it?) when he dropped it, sharp corner down, onto his big toe.  Pandemonium ensued.  At first Simon was just wailing in pain and surprise, but after a couple minutes he redirected his energy into furious pointing and screaming at the culprit: the filing box, which lay on the ground looking, as much as an inanimate object can, somewhat bashful.

All this drama led to an exciting inaugural experience: the first band aid!  Luckily I brought some slick Spiderman ones from the States, so we had a little footbath and then plastered Spidey on there.

What is this thing?

What is this thing?

Simon wasn’t too sure at first, and was limping around with that “something’s not quite right” look on his face.

Let's see if I can still walk...

I don't know if this little piggy will still go to market, Mommy.

But I think we’re going to make it after all.

OK! What are we doing now?

PS—Congrats to Jessica and Dave Farrell on the birth of little Lia Louise!  She’s absolutely gorgeous.
